Garden Planting- Part 1

We were back at it this weekend, and almost killed ourselves, getting the gardens ready.  We spent the entire day Saturday- 10 hours to be exact - setting up our super cool new gardens.  It took a little planning, in order to be sure Logan's nap times fell when there were jobs for both of us to be doing, but we managed to rototill, haul dirt, plant seeds and even had time to pretty up the kids play area.  Personally, I think it looks pretty amazing. :)

We were only able to plant one garden this weekend since it still gets too cold for some of the other things we plan to grow.  So for now, we have planted peas, lettuce, and broccoli (two kinds).  In two weeks we'll plant the second garden and get our tomatoes and peppers into their outdoor containers.  Fingers crossed stuff will start to grow!

Waiting on spring...

Even though this past winter hasn't been as horrible as some we've had, we still can't wait for spring to get here- partially because the hubby has taken over my school room with his plants.  What?! you ask?  Ok, here's a little back story for you:  Last year we decided we were going to jump on the granola band wagon and start seeds inside to then plant outside once Minnesota decided to join the rest of the world and warm up.  Well, about two weeks in we had clearly done something wrong as not a thing was growing, or what had sprouted had died.  Fail.  So instead we headed to Home Depot, bought our plants like every other year and called it good.  That brings us to this year.  A little more determined, and a little more educated on the whole growing plants thing, and voila, PLANTS!

Problem now, Minnesota weather is taking it's sweet *** time warming up, so we can't plant these things outside until it stops freezing at night.  So, Z and A and I are enjoying our daily math and reading lessons in a mini green house surrounded by the delightful smells of tomatoes and basil.  Perfect, in my opinion.

So in preparation of spring coming eventually, we spent last weekend building our raised garden beds.  Turned out pretty fantastic in my opinion.  Parks helped of course, while Logan napped.  We used cedar boards, cut down to size and drilled to be 3'x5' boxes.  A little edge on the top finished them off nicely.

Back at it...

So after an over 3 year hiatus, we're back!  And this time, we're a family of four.  Logan Michael joined our beautiful little family on June 23, 2014 and has been a bundle of non stop giggles, excitement and movement ever since.  We've been doing so many fun things as a family, that I can't help but think I'll regret not documenting it over the years... so here goes...

Real Food!

Well maybe not real food, but mushy food that has to taste better than boring milk all the time.  And the winner of the "what should his first food be competition" was... BANANAS!  And PJ was a HUGE fan!  He couldn't get enough of them!  So much for the worry that babies take awhile to warm up to eating from a spoon.  Our little chow hound dove right in...
MMMM Bananas!

First tooth.... and SECOND tooth

Parker got his first AND second tooth this week!  He has been a drooling machine and apparently decided to kick it into high gear and start getting his teeth in.  The first tooth came through on Monday night and the second one on Thursday night.  He's going to look adorable cruising around with his two bottom teeth!  If I can ever get him to sit still I will try and get a pic... no luck with that so far!

Canterbury Downs

We headed over to Canterbury Downs to cheer on a friend's horse that was racing.  Parker's first trip to Canterbury and he got to go in the owner's circle to see the horses and jockey's up close.  He was apparently getting sleeping as you can tell he's rubbing his eyes- like father like son there!  He perked up though when his horse won!

First Lesson in Building a Computer...

Dad ordered new parts for another computer... apparently we didn't have enough!  Dad sat down with Parker for his first lesson in computer building... Parker was quite intrigued!
